Every so often, Kelli Welch takes a stroll down memory lane. She thinks about how much her life has changed, and how much she has matured over the years as a student, mother and wife.

Immediately after graduating Queen City High School in 2003, Welch entered Texarkana College's Cosmetology program.
However Welch soon realized she liked getting her hair done, not actually doing it.
Soon after leaving the Cosmetology program Welch took a three year break before getting back in school.

She got married and started a family of her own. She has a two- year-old son named Maddox who keeps her on her toes.
"He is the love and joy of my life," Welch said.

While out of school Welch did a little bit of traveling with her husband who is also a former Texarkana College baseball player named David Welch.
David now plays Triple A in a Mexican League.

When Maddox was old enough for child care Welch then decided to pursue a career in nursing. She chose Texarkana College yet again.
"It's close to my family and friends" she said.

Welch, who is now a sophomore plans to get her associates degree in nursing (RN), then begin working at a local facility and continue taking classes part time to get her bachelors degree.
"It's hard at times to juggle such a huge load but I just take a deep breath and keep aiming for what I want," she said.

To take the load off in Welch's spare time she likes to travel to watch her husband play baseball and spend time with her family and friends. Welch doesn't feel that she is starting over, she feels that she is starting a new journey in her life.

"I wouldn't trade these experiences for the world," Welch said.
