TC's pitcher makes another out by throwing the ball to first.

TC's baseball team won the Region XIV Championship and earned a No. 1 seed in the regional tournament by defeating Lon Morris twice on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (36-17 overall; 20-8 region) won the number one seed by splitting the season series with second place Navarro, and winning the second tie breaker, which is how both teams did against third place Northeast Texas.

"Starting pitching has been very consistent this season," Head Coach Will Bolt said. "All our pitchers have an ERA under 3 and have stayed healthy throughout the season which is amazing. Every pitcher on the staff could be considered our ace."

Bulldog pitching has allowed the second fewest hits all season, as well as fewest runs and fewest hits per innings pitched.

The confidence level in the locker room is at a high given how the team started the season by losing four of its first nine games of the season.

"I am very confident in our team," Bolt said. "Pitching has been consistent, and our hitters are starting to feel good about their swing."

The Bulldogs open the playoffs against Wharton at 8 p.m. on May 15 at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant.
