Elsewhere, adults in casual clothes run plywood through the table saw. Someone calls, "Chris!" and the tireless instructor flies yet again from one side of the room to the other to answer. The lighting is dim, the air smells of paint and wood and specks of dust dance to show tunes around the shadowy scaffolding above.
The sound of hammering echoes through the entire building, sawdust lingers in the air and the smell of paint is strong enough to leave a taste in your mouth.

TC receives clean report from special committee
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools special committee made one recommendation but basically gave a clean assessment to Texarkana College in a report issued on Oct. 15 after assessing complaints filed against the college alleging board interference in daily administrative duties. Members of the special committee visited the campus on Oct. 8 and 9 to investigate the complaints.
The Texarkana College Board of Trustees traveled to Toronto, Canada, for the 41st annual Association for Community College Trustees Leadership Congress on Oct. 20-23.

The TC bookstore in the Truman Arnold Center will not be selling books or paraphernalia for A&M University at Texarkana when the fall semester begins.
Make plans to attend the annual Spring Fling from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday on the lawn across from the Truman Arnold Student Center parking lot. The TC student government is hosting this event.
In the near future Texarkana College and Christus Saint Michael might have a partnership for the health and fitness of the community, students and faculty. TC is looking to merge the fitness side and wellness side together, TC President Dr. Alan Rasco said. Cusimano and Associates, a survey firm from San Antonio, Texas, has been hired to survey both facilities.
A&M's big move will bring change to Palmer Memorial Library
Changes are coming to the Palmer Memorial Library located on the Texarkana College campus when A&M moves out of TC to their new campus, located near Bringle Lake, this summer. "We are making a decision now to decide if we are going to partner on part of the library or if we are just going to go out on our own and have our own TC library," Texarkana College President Dr. Alan Rasco said.
Texarkana College is one of six finalists for the Achieving the Dream Grant.
"It is a national endeavor for community colleges and it essentially drives the college to where you measure and produce quantitive data," Texarkana College President Dr. Alan Rasco said.

SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, is the accreditation agency for colleges and schools in 11 states, including Texas.
The second annual Earth Festival will be from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. April 29 in the Truman Arnold Student Center Great Room.
Inductees entered the room in a v-shaped formation like birds in an autumn sky as they filed into the Great Room of the Truman Arnold Student Center for the Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony on March 31.
Texarkana College's Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society attended the PTK Annual Texas Regional Convention for 2010 over Spring Break at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas. The event is held at a different college every year, giving students the opportunity to see other places and meet new people.
