Grease is the word

Auditions for "Grease", the upcoming musical by TexRep and the Drama Department were scheduled March 1 in the Humanities building.

Those who auditioned were to sing 15 bars of music appropriate for their voices.

"I just hope I didn't hurt anybody's ears," sophomore Cullen McElhannon said.

The musical is set in 1959 at Rydell High throughout senior year after summer romances were formed. While Danny and Sandy work through the problems of differing backgrounds, the group sings and dances. Through sleepovers, drive-ins and the school dance, the cast contemplates growing up.

"Grease" was originally produced by TexRep in 2000. Performances will be May 7-16 in the Stillwell Theatre.
